Your adversary the devil walks about like
a roaring lion, seeking whom he may
devour” —1 Peter 5:8.
This verse gives me great courage.
You ask, “why?” —Because it demonstrates
to me that the devil is not as smart as we
make him out to be. It confirms how
foolish and stupid he actually is.
To think that he could ever usurp himself
above God is the ultimate in stupidity, for
starters.
Even lions are smarter than the devil it
would seem. For, who has ever seen or
heard of a lion going about roaring when in
search of its prey?
What would happen if it did? —It would
remain hungry!
Why? Because it would frighten its prey to
scamper away to safety.
And that’s the point. When the devil comes
roaring, I am alerted to the danger and I
run to Jesus and His Word, for safety.
There I find refuge. There I am shielded
and protected by His love, from the fangs
of the roaring loin.
Hallelujah!
And, “Who can separate us from the love
of Christ? Can affliction or distress or
persecution or famine or nakedness or
danger or sword?
As it is written: Because of you we are
being put to death all day long; we are
counted as sheep to be slaughtered.
No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him who loved us.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor
life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things
present nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height nor depth, nor any other
created thing will be able to separate us
from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus
our Lord” —Romans 8:35-39.
